Almost my turn

Well, the girls in my cycling group are starting to deliver. One of the girls & I transferred the same day so we had the same due date, only she was pregnant with twins. She delivered this evening! I'm so excited for her but at the same time it's really sinking in that it's going to be my turn before long. A week ago I wasn't ready, but I'm getting there.

My back is killing me. Mostly my lower back, because my belly is really pulling on it, but my upper back and hips hurt more often than not. It's hard to sleep at night, I wake up every hour or so because I'm either uncomfortable and need to roll over, or I have to pee. And these Braxton Hicks contractions are really annoying! We were walking around Target the other night and I was having them every 10 minutes so we hurried up and got out of there, and as soon as I sat in the car they stopped. Whew. But annoying nonetheless. I feel bad complaining, I know K would trade places with me in a heartbeat.

The good news is that being uncomfortable is making it much easier for me to look forward to delivery, haha! As much as I'm not looking forward to getting that epidural placed (that huge needle makes me woozy) I think I'd really like to have it now. I'd probably sleep better!

We have another appointment on the 18th, and I'll be 36 weeks! My mom is coming to my appointment with me so she finally gets to meet K&J :)

  1. Wouldn't it be so awesome if they could create some sort of epidural that you can take at 35wks and last till delivery, ha! Just something little that takes all the aches and pains away leading up to delivery, but still allows you to walk and not loose function of your legs--that would be so cool! All the best in the remainder of your pregnancy. So nice to hear that your Mom gets to meet your IP's. That's wonderful. I just matched with my IP's this week. I can't wait for them to meet my family and vise versa.

  2. Ha! yes, that would be awesome. With my last pregnancy at my 36 week appointment, my OB was going over some plans with me & asked at what point would I like to have my epidural. I said "now would be great!" ha- I wish.

Congratulations on your match & best of luck to you!

  3. By the way, how did you meet the other ladies in your cycle group? I'd love to connect with other surro moms that are at the same point in surrogacy as I am--just being matched. Are there online support groups out there or did you just find them via their blogs, ect?

  4. Head over to www.surromomsonline.com, and click on message boards. There are cycle groups, a place to ask questions if you're just starting out, and sooo much knowledge over there. I would have been lost without SMO!

  6. I find that when I reach that "I'm SO uncomfortable!" point, that I have about 4 weeks to go. Do you normally carry to 40 weeks?

  7. My last two pregnancies I delivered at 39w3d, and 38w5d. I'm kind of hoping that this baby holds out until our induction date of Dec. 6th, or at least waits until late at night on Dec. 4th before labor starts! I have something to do the evening of the 4th and I don't want to be recovering or in labor, haha!

  8. Ok, so I checked out SMO and I don't understand it fully. I registered, but haven't been approved yet either. Does it take a while to get approved? :(

  9. Yes, it'll take a day or two to approve you, and the site is down for maintenance right now. Go to the message boards and just start poking around and reading!
